TOM

SWYERS

Tom Swyers is an attorney, hearing officer, former judge, and a novelist.

Winner of two Benjamin Franklin Book Awards including “Best First Book: Fiction” in 2015,  his debut novel, Saving Babe Ruth, has won acclaim from both critics and readers alike and has been an Amazon bestseller. It is the prequel standalone thriller in the Lawyer David Thompson Legal Thrillers Series.

The Killdeer Connection, is the standalone first book in the Lawyer David Thompson Legal Thrillers Series. It was a 2017 winner in an Amazon international writing compeition.

Caged to Kill is the standalone second book in the Lawyer David Thompson Legal Thriller Series. It was inspired by Tom’s correspondence with the longest held inmate in administrative solitary confinement (going on 32 years) in New York State.

Tom first had an audience on the edge of their seat (and the girls giggling) when his play, “The Great Train Robbery,” made its debut in the seventh grade.

After high school, he worked his way through some of the best colleges in the country. Employed in a variety of jobs ranging from a late-night convenience-store clerk to a fine jewelry salesperson, Tom eventually graduated from college and then worked his way through law school in the caverns of Wall Street.

Tom is also an award-winning youth sports advocate having been recognized in 2009 as Eastern New York State Volunteer of the Year for Babe Ruth League, Inc.

He’s often called “Tom Sawyer,” but he is not the Mark Twain character, though he did marry Becky Thatcher and his best friend is Huck Finn. He’s been a lawyer for much of his career, practicing in a variety of areas. Most recently, he’s acted as a judge and as a hearing officer in New York State.

When he isn’t writing or reading, Tom is usually running (literally) away from trouble on the back roads of Upstate, New York where he lives with his family and two cats (really two dogs working undercover).
